Angela Glajcar

Angela Glajcar, born in Mainz in 1970, studied sculpture at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts under Tim Scott, initially working in wood and metal before embracing paper as her primary medium.

Through her unique technique called “Terforation,” she transforms torn sheets of paper into cavernous, layered sculptures that evoke landscapes—caves, valleys, and geological formations—while simultaneously redefining the spatial experience. Her monochromatic installations masterfully play with light, shadow, and void, rendering monumental presence from fragile materials.

Glajcar has exhibited internationally—including in Washington, D.C., Shanghai, and across Europe—and her works are held in prominent public collections such as Museum Wiesbaden and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. A recipient of multiple awards including the Emy-Roeder Prize and Paper Art Award, she continues to explore the poetic tension between lightness and monumentality in spatial sculpture.
