Hernández Pijuan

Born in Barcelona in 1931
1945-1947 student at the “Llotja” art school, Barcelona
1952-1956 student at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Sant Jordi, Barcelona
1989 Professor of Painting at the Academy of Barcelona
In 2005 he was an honorary participant at the 51st Venice Biennale
Died in Barcelona in 2005

Just as Pijuan’s pictures become more and more reduced, lines buried in paint that form signs and marks, they are saturated with experience, the experience of the traveller in the countryside, orienting himself.

Pijuan’s drawings are the elementary signs for flowers and leaves, the tree, the cloud, the house or the waving field of grain.

The symbol for cloud contains the knowledge of all clouds, the symbol for tree contains all trees.
